Hockeyclub Ypenburg (HCY) is a club where children, young people and adults can train and play together with pleasure, at their own level. Whether it is performance-oriented or recreational, it is about experiencing maximum enjoyment of the hockey sport through development.
HCY feels responsible to contribute to the development and education of the youth. At the association friendships are formed, children learn to deal with differences, they gain self-confidence by celebrating successes together and they learn to deal with setbacks and disappointment. Older youth develop into examples for the youngest youth and are involved in the development in training, coaching and arbitration of the youngest youth.
Within HCY we recognize the following levels:
Performance hockey: The first and second teams strive for the highest possible level.
Recreational hockey: In addition to level, social aspects are also taken into account when selecting teams.
HCY defines performance hockey players as: Talented players who have the discipline to achieve the maximum with the team and get the most out of themselves, whereby the player is prepared to always be present and commits to the team agreements and code of conduct of the association.
HCY sees Performance Hockey as an important part of the association. HCY strives to play appealing hockey with Men 1 and Women 1, for example, and to take a progressive position in the region in the field of Presentation Hockey.
HCY sees its own youth training as an important instrument to achieve the above. The development of the youngest youth has a prominent place in the organization and the flow to the juniors and seniors is an important point of attention. The senior line is recognizable and especially accessible for the own youth players. They are preferably used for various activities within HCY, including coaching and training youth players.
The first team is seen as the strongest team, in its totality as a team, not on the basis of the individual. In the C to A line, the second teams function as a development team for the upcoming talents of HCY who still have to make the step to the first team and also as a reception team for reserve players of the first teams.
The following guidelines are used when composing these two teams:
The best and most talented team in terms of quality, with motivated players
Based on second-year players, supplemented where possible with exceptional talent from the first-year line.
Players who can connect as well as possible to the level of the first team
Based on first-year players, possibly supplemented with second-year players if this benefits the team and the individual players
Teams that are designated as first and second team are facilitated to play as many matches as possible on the water field. In support, 1 of the 2 trainings will at least be on the water field. The club will also ensure that these teams are supported as well as possible by the team management as trainers and coach. In the indoor competition, there is the possibility to divide an extra team, the so-called J/M12 team, so that as many players as possible have playing time indoors.
HCY defines recreational hockey as: Players at their own level where the player is prepared to always be present and commits to the team agreements and code of conduct of the association.
HCY offers hockey for everyone at his or her own level. When forming the broad teams, social aspects are taken into account in addition to level. In other words, like-minded people who want to play in the same team and familiar combinations within the current teams are taken into account. Broad hockey also offers opportunities for the influx of new, sometimes inexperienced, players who want to play at HCY.
In the Broad Hockey, the aim is to connect as much as possible to the Performance Hockey teams: without Broad Hockey, there is no Performance Hockey. If a player in a broad team develops with such great steps and has the intention to play performance-oriented hockey, action will be taken to train or play with a Performance Hockey team, if there is room for this.
